Trees at the Fernridge School

Six years ago, Chris Edge, the principal at Fernridge School in Masterton, New Zealand, attended a seminar run by Art Costa. On returning to the school she decided that the avenue of golden elms which the Board of Trustees had decided to plant on the school boundary would be used to illustrate the Intelligent Behaviours/Habits of Mind. These are now a permanent reminder of these habits. At the start of each school year the classes are walked past the avenue to refresh the minds of those returning and to intrigue the minds of those new to the school about the habits of mind.–Alan Cooper
